The Usual Suspects – Small Group Personalities

You can have so many different types of students in your small group and managing all of those personalities well can be tricky sometimes. Pastor Dylan, Pastor Tomy and Pastor Olivia are going to give you a few examples of those personalities and how to manage all of those within your group.

  • The “Talker”
    • Make sure they aren’t dominating the conversation so much that others can’t share
  • The “Thinker”
    • They might need a direct invitation before they will share their thoughts
  • The “Church Kid”
    • Ask good follow up questions to get them to think deeper
  • The “Distractor”
    • Internationally engage them or give them opportunities to lead
  • The “Debater”
    • Remind them that it’s okay to disagree, but not okay to attack or put down other small group members for having differing opinions
  • The “Crisis Producer”
    • When they constantly try to keep the focus on them, assure them that they will get a chance to share prayer requests and problems at the end
